Flashback… While She Sleeps
While She Sleeps returns to Paris once again, this time to Elysée Montmartre, for what promises to be an exceptional concert. After a sold-out Bataclan last year, the Brits repeat their success with a sold-out show tonight. While She Sleeps kicks off its European tour in Paris, so the setlist, full of surprises, was unknown. The announced line-up is sizeable, with Malevolence, Thrown and Resolve, enough to delight fans of the genre.
The room plunged into darkness as Peace of Mind, the musical introduction to their latest album Self Hell (2024), rang out. It’s the first time this intro has been played, and also the first for Leave Me Alone when they arrive on stage. While She Sleeps bursts onto the stage with boundless energy, taking the audience on an endless series of jumps. The fans are already in full swing, enthusiastically taking in the lyrics to this opening track. No time is wasted as Anti-Social follows. Sean’s intro riffs build the tension, and the first wall of death is in the offing. The song kicks off, the atmosphere is incredible, and Loz even launches himself at the audience before the end of the track.
When you hear the intro to Down, you know what it means. Because Malevolence on the bill means live featuring on this track, already present on the album. The breakdown arrives with Alex Taylor on the mic, launching a gigantic wall of death. The two singers smile and get into the spirit as much as the audience, who jump to the chorus and sing at the top of their lungs. We’re also treated to Hurricane, which alternates on the band’s setlists. The song is as effective live as ever, with Sean concentrating on his guitar, as serious as ever. Matt accompanies Loz on vocals, and Aaran enjoys twirling his bass around the stage in front of Adam.
